Tax Boost for Housing Market

Stamp duty is to be suspended for people buying new homes worth less than £175,000 in a bid to revive the struggling housing market.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling said that the exemption would start on Wednesday, September 3 2008 and would last until 31 December 2009.
