History of the Property:
The building dates back to the Plantation times. It was built by the original Draperstown Company from London which was given the lands around the parish of Ballinascreen. It was once the home of Sir Dennis Henry, the first lord chief justice of Northern Ireland. It also served as the parochial house for Draperstown. As well as the main residence ‘The Rath’, the property also includes the coachman’s cottage to the rear of the plot which served as the servant’s quarters for the house.
